Weekly Color Inspiration {Pools, Lakes, Parks…}

Green-Blue Essie Manicure by Miss Renaissance

{Lime green – Essie the more the merrier. ┬áTeal – Essie Naughty nautical. Blue – Essie Bouncer, it’s me!}

Pools, Lakes, Picnics in Parks, the Beach…that’s what Summer’s made for! It looks like Essie got the hint, because all three of these fun colors are from the latest collections. I used them to create a loose ombre mix….and I like the result! It’s a perfect Summer mani, right?

Weekly Color Inspiration {Sun & Stars}

Sunny Galaxy Manicure by Miss Renaissance

{On all fingers, except index fingers – Essie No More Film. On index fingers – Butter London Jasper. Glitter coat – Essie Luxeffects Stroke of Brilliance.}

What would a week at Miss Renaissance be without a little Color Inspo, right? Even though I’m in the midst of Fashion Week here in Australia (having a blasty blast!!), my nails need their usual TLC. Butter London’s perfect yellow shade is a repeat offender this week…I just can’t get enough of it!! Paired with a deep purple & a little glitter on top, it’s a dramatic combo that’s fun & goes with so many outfits.

Weekly Color Inspiration {It’s never too late!}

Valentine's Manicure by Miss Renaissance

{Lightest Pink – Essie Need a Vacation. Bright Pink – Essie Bachelorette Bash. Red – Essie Jelly Apple.}

Guess what….I’m BAAAACK!!!

My trip to Africa was amazing! I can’t wait to show you some pictures (after I go through all 1200+ of them!) It was truly refreshing to get away from it all and just enjoy nature & its incredible wildlife. Being in the African bush, away from technology & the craziness of city life really helped me recharge and be thankful for everything that I have. I’m ready to take 2013 by storm!!

Since I missed Valentine’s Day – I was somewhere deep in the Okavango Delta of Botswana at the time – I couldn’t resist getting a belated Valentine’s manicure once I got back to Chicago. Ombre shades of pink & red seemed just perfect for the occasion, right?

Weekly Color Inspiration {Fresh Beginnings}

Fresh New Year, Fresh new Mani by Miss Renaissance

{On all fingers, except for index fingers – Essie Mojito Madness. On index fingers – Essie Beyond Cozy.}

With the start of a new year, a fresh & fun manicure seemed in order. I usually don’t gravitate toward bright shades of green, but this Kelly Green shade drew me in….it just felt so clean and happy. They say that the color green signifies hope, so here’s to hoping for all of the best life can bring in 2013!

No manicure so close to the Holidays would be complete without a tiny bit of sparkle (well, at least not for me, self-confessed glitter freak!), so I added a bit of metallic glimmer. This color, a mix of gold & silver, almost acts like a neutral here, right? I might have to add this versatile shade to my list of favorites!

Weekly Color Inspiration {Modern Neutral}

Miss Renaissance Color Inspiration

{On all fingers, except index fingers – RGB Steel. On index fingers – Essie Tart Deco.}

This week’s mani combines two of my favorite shades. I love grey in all shades. It’s the type of neutral that’s friendlier than black and cooler than beige. I generally gravitate toward grey when I’m looking for something to “toughen up” an outfit, but don’t want to use black. During this time of the year (especially in Chicago – brrr!) I think an all-grey manicure can be a little drab. Adding the happy & still on-trend coral shade makes for a more approachable & modern overall effect. Let’s call it the modern neutral manicure with a happy twist, shall we?!

Color Inspiration {Going for Classics}

Miss Renaissance Manicure

{On all fingers, except index fingers – Essie A List. On index fingers, Color Club – Take the Stage.}

For the second half of New York Fashion Week, I went with a classic combo of sexy, bright red & ritzy gold glitter! This combo proved to be a glamorous match to basically any Fall-inspired outfit. Essie’s “A-List” is the perfect shade of fiery red with subtle blue undertones, which makes it work with any skin tone.

Color Inspiration {Heavy Rotation}

Miss Renaissance Manicure Color Inspiration

{On all fingers – Essie Turquoise & Caicos. On tips – Deborah Lippmann Superstar.}

Essie’s amazing teal shade – Turquoise & Caicos – has been on super heavy rotation for me this Summer. It’s fun, versatile, easy to apply, and just one of my favorite colors in general! Instead of adding gold glitter tips this time (one of my fave combos, as you already know), I added a glittery shade of copper by Deborah Lippmann. Rose gold, copper, and any shade of “penny” will be a major Fall trend…I’m just making the sloooooowww transition, starting with my finger tips.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend – enjoy the sun, take a stroll through the park or along the beach if you’re lucky! I’ve safely made it to beautiful Whistler, B.C. and am ready to spend the weekend snapping photos, cooking, soaking up new knowledge and exploring in the mountains.
