What happens around 1am at the Chicago Lyric Opera House?! Well, normally not much….but the other night, a little dark & stormy fantasy played out at one of Chicago’s most beautiful landmarks.

I’ve long been a fan of Marie Antoinette as well as The Phantom of the Opera. I love the fantasy element of both and I adore playing dress-up (who doesn’t, really!?) So when I came across this beautiful Beth Bowley Gown at BHLDN, I knew my fantasy photo shoot finally had to happen! I totally improvised with my hair & makeup here, but I had long wanted to experiment with gold body paint to create an “opera length” illusion glove. What do you think? I kinda wish I could run around with an arm’s length of gold paint on a regular basis.

I hope you enjoyed getting lost in my little fantasy world for a few minutes. It doesn’t hurt to dream every now and then!

P.S.: This gown is now available for purchase (at a sweet discount) on my Vaunte page!

Hello, hello my Lovelies! The Holidays have arrived and I wanted to wish you a beautiful & merry week with lots of love, laughter, great company & food….and of course, a healthy dose of sparkle!!

What better way to send you off into 2013 than with the very first Miss Renaissance Video!? I had an absolute blasty blast dancing my silly butt off, playing with confetti & feathers, and showcasing some of my Holiday/New Year’s outfit ideas. Which look is your favorite??

No matter if you decide to go vintage, cheeky, sexy, glamorous or even casual for your Holiday Festivities, always remember to own your look & have FUN! I’ll be taking a few days off to spend time with my family (and gorge myself on delicious food & drink!), so I’ll see you Lovelies back here on January 1st!

Cocktail O’Clock!

Do you have a signature cocktail? You know, the one drink you always go back to, no matter what type of bar/restaurant you’re visiting? Mine, personally, is the Moscow Mule. I know, not too terribly exciting, but the refreshing combination of ginger, citrus, and fizz just keeps me coming back!!

This month, BHLDN created an amazing feature on signature cocktail recipes for their website. I love, love how they styled the images. The colors are bright & beautiful, and the different sized glassware they used conveys amazing dimension. So what if BHLDN originally designed these drinks to be wedding cocktails?! A great drink works anytime, anywhere in my book! Cheers to that!

P.S. The purple “Aviation” cocktail was created by Chicago’s very own (and a beautiful friend of mine) Revae of Femme du Coupe! Yay for Lady Mixologists rising to the top!

Work & Play {Frilly Delights}

Tulle!!! The fabric of a girly childhood….and these days, also totally acceptable for a girly adulthood! I love tulle, especially in this beautiful minty tone. This skirt from BHLDN has been an object of my affection ever since I saw it at the Chicago store opening (I’m desperately waiting for it to go on sale one day!)….and let me tell you how obsessed I am with these amazing camera straps by Bloom Theory!!! Beautiful, sturdy, and super detailed straps designed by a female duo of professional photographers?! I’m in! Hopefully, one day soon, I will be able to arrive at a photo shoot with one of these babies holding my camera in place.

I wish you all a wonderful & fun weekend! See you back here on Monday.
