What happens around 1am at the Chicago Lyric Opera House?! Well, normally not much….but the other night, a little dark & stormy fantasy played out at one of Chicago’s most beautiful landmarks.

I’ve long been a fan of Marie Antoinette as well as The Phantom of the Opera. I love the fantasy element of both and I adore playing dress-up (who doesn’t, really!?) So when I came across this beautiful Beth Bowley Gown at BHLDN, I knew my fantasy photo shoot finally had to happen! I totally improvised with my hair & makeup here, but I had long wanted to experiment with gold body paint to create an “opera length” illusion glove. What do you think? I kinda wish I could run around with an arm’s length of gold paint on a regular basis.

I hope you enjoyed getting lost in my little fantasy world for a few minutes. It doesn’t hurt to dream every now and then!

P.S.: This gown is now available for purchase (at a sweet discount) on my Vaunte page!

Well, the event is fast approaching, and as an honored member of this year’s host committee I’m giving away 2 tickets to the party! This is going to be THE party of the Summer – amazing art, incredibly talented chefs creating beautiful food, silent auctions, DJ’s spinning tunes to shake your bootay to, an epic “Taco Battle” between Big Star & Antique Taco….need I say more?! And it’s all for a great cause supporting up-and-coming local artists – so even if you don’t get lucky and win the tickets, you should get yours here & join the fun! I hope to see you there.

Happy Friday, Lovelies! I hope you’re ready for a fun Spring weekend ahead!

How adorable are these Custom Embroidery Kits by Miniature Rhino?! I can see a million ways to gift/display/use these. For the crafty ones among us, you can choose from a ton of different colors and directions on how to create your perfect little piece of art. If you’re more into leaving the crafting up to the experts, you can combine any letters/names/colors and your embroidery will arrive at your doorstep in about 2 weeks.

How awesome would these be as a personalized wedding gift or just to say “I Love You”? I also think displaying all of your family initials with several pieces would be a cool way to build a family tree…

Happy Friday, Lovelies! Another weekend is upon us, and what better way to send you off than with a small army of colorful & delicate origami butterflies?!

This beautiful installation was done as a collaborative effort by Dream Interiors & Elixr for Singapore’s “Saturday in Design.” Each carefully crafted origami butterfly represents a dream in various stages, from the emergence of an idea, to the idea being in transit and then taking flight. Every butterfly has its own character and destination, but when flying together, new dreams are created and celebrated as a whole. How beautiful and inspirational is that!  It’s like a gentle call to action to follow our dreams.

Aside from being so inspirational & positive, the amazing colors of the butterflies create a perfect pop against Dream Interior’s stark white furniture collection. A perfect blend of modern design and colorful whimsy….

Ahhhh…..fashion editorials. When they’re well done, they’re perfect little stories, woven together by a string of beautiful & imaginative photographs. One of my absolute favorite fashion photographers is Norwegian native Solve Sundsbo. His work is incredibly colorful, creative, and full of drama, movement and fantasy!

Solve regularly works for international fashion brands such as Hermes & Gucci, and his resume includes editorials for every major fashion magazine in the world. I believe that he deserves every one of his accolades – his creative talent and vision continually breathes fresh life into the genre of fashion photography. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

I hope you have a fun & colorful weekend, Lovelies! See you back here on Monday.

If you’re a Pinterest addict like I am, then you’ve probably come across a picture or two of colorful paint explosions, right? It’s a new, fun phenomenon in the art world…and I just can’t get enough of it! These Paint Pigment Photographs (or Color Bombs, as I like to call them) by British Artist duo Rob & Nick Carter are amazingly saturated and bright – and they just plain make me happy!

The Carters got their inspiration for these Pigment Clouds from the ancient Hindu Holi Festival – the Festival of Colors, which celebrates the Spring Season in India and Nepal. A festival dedicated to colors…what’s better than that!? One day I’ll make it to India to see it first hand…one day…
