Happy Monday, Lovelies! For some reason I’ve been waking up extra hungry the past few days…ya know, when you crave a hearty, full-blown breakfast instead of the usual coffee & granola/yoghurt combo?! I have several go-to places here in Chicago when my big breakfast/brunch mood strikes, and I recently found the same type of gem while visiting LA.

Zinque in Venice is now one of my favorite places for delicious coffee (they use La Colombe beans) & hearty sandwiches/pastries. Their prosciutto-mozzarella-tomato panini is amazing, and so are their seasonal fruit pies (I had their pear pie last time, and as you can see in the picture – it’s a little piece of art.) The vibe & decor is decidedly simple & cool with an industrial edge. A few whimsical pieces, such as the vintage  piano, keep the interior from feeling too cold though. If I lived in the Venice area, Zinque would definitely be my go-to spot for casual meetings, laptop-time away from home, or even for an evening glass of wine. They have a nice selection of regional and international wine & beer, and I hear their light dinner menu is yummy & fresh as well.

If you’re ever in Venice, check it out and tell me what you think!

XO

  2. Kudos! I hear your pain about the time it takes to assemble these posts. The last time I hosted the Teaching Carnival I spent most of a weekend pulling it together and I’d been assiduous, in the month leading up to the date, in combing technorati and my other tagging sites, trying to bookmark all the relevant coiTtrsaenons.vhis is a great job, though, and I’m looking forward to later in the week when I can come back and peruse the full list at my leisure.
