BOOM!! Happy Holidays {Video Edition}

Hello, hello my Lovelies! The Holidays have arrived and I wanted to wish you a beautiful & merry week with lots of love, laughter, great company & food….and of course, a healthy dose of sparkle!!

What better way to send you off into 2013 than with the very first Miss Renaissance Video!? I had an absolute blasty blast dancing my silly butt off, playing with confetti & feathers, and showcasing some of my Holiday/New Year’s outfit ideas. Which look is your favorite??

No matter if you decide to go vintage, cheeky, sexy, glamorous or even casual for your Holiday Festivities, always remember to own your look & have FUN! I’ll be taking a few days off to spend time with my family (and gorge myself on delicious food & drink!), so I’ll see you Lovelies back here on January 1st!

The World’s still here…time for a 2013 Calendar Roundup!

2013 Calendar Roundup

{No Calendar Roundup would be complete without Amazon’s Top 2: the awkward pre-teen amazingness that is One Direction, and Photographer Seth Casteel’s adorable Underwater Dogs!}

In this age of iCalendars/Blackberries/iPad Schedules etc, traditional paper calendars seem so old-fashioned, right? RIGHT! And that’s exactly what I love about them. The old-fashioned paper. The beautifully printed ink. Today’s handcrafted calendar options are not only scheduling devices that keep us on track, they’re also room accents & works of art.

Above are a few of my very favorites for the New Year. What are your faves?

Weekly Color Inspiration {Oh Christmas Tree}

Miss Renaissance's Christmas Tree Manicure

{On all fingers, except index fingers – RGB Cosmetics Sea. On index fingers – RGB Cosmetics Copper.}

With Emerald Green having a major moment, and Christmas being just around the corner, this manicure was a no-brainer. I’m really feeling the Holiday cheer around me these days (we all need it, right!?), and decorating my tree each year deepens my mood even more. Maybe spending a few hours each day sitting by the tree subconsciously got me to go for a deep green this week…

The combination of green and shimmery copper is elegant & can be matched with many outfits – perfect for any upcoming weekend festivities! What’s your take on the Holiday manicure this year?

It’s DIY Time {Holiday Edition}

DIY Miss Renaissance

{Get your tools ready: Pine Cones (forage them in your neighborhood/woods or buy them at a craft store), Spray Paint, Twine (or any string you like), Gold Leaf (available at most craft stores, or online here), Glitter, Screw Eye Hooks (I got mine at Home Depot).}

Miss Renaissance DIY

{Take your Cones outside (or in a well-ventilated area), and spray until you achieve the color saturation you like. Let dry for about 15 minutes.}

Miss Renaissance DIY

{Once your Cones are almost dry (still slightly tacky), apply the Gold Leaf and use a sponge tool or brush (even a soft toothbrush will do) to dust off the excess Leaf.}

Miss Renaissance

{Use your Glitter liberally on your non-gold Cones!}

{Using either your fingers or a pair of pliers, gently screw a hook eye into the top of each Pine Cone.}

Miss Renaissance Blogger

{Line up your Cones in the order you’d like them to hang on your finished Garland. Then knot your twine, evenly spaced, onto each Eye Hook. }

Miss Renaissance

{VOILA! Your beautiful, sparkly, & glamorous Garland is ready to be hung wherever your Holiday Heart desires (in my case, over my fireplace!}

Miss Renaissance DIY

What would the Holidays be without a super glam & fun DIY!? This Pine Cone Garland is easy and will cost little money to make. I decided to add pops of bright & glittery pink to mine, but you can let your imagination go wild with color choices here…..add some deep red for a true Christmas feel, or some green….or maybe even black for a more edgy look.

This was my first time working with Gold Leaf, and let me tell you – I now have the urge to literally Gold Leaf everything in sight!!!

Play with your food-1 The Deets I saw the sign I can haz cheezburger

{Sequin Sweater – Markus Lupfer. Leather Skirt – Alice & Olivia. Shoes – Givenchy (old, similar here). Tights – J.Crew (old, similar here), Headband – J.Crew (old, similar here). Bag – Celine. Bracelets – Hermes & Madewell (old.)}

By now, my lust love for Markus Lupfer’s cheeky & glam knitwear is no longer a secret! So it’s no surprise that when I came across this hilarious burger number, I HAD to have it!! It combines my love for food & sequins in one perfectly comfortable sweater…..ahhhhmazing!! I’ve pretty much been wearing it non-stop.

What pairs perfectly with a burger?? Duhhhh…some fries, people! Off we were to the closest McDonald’s. Trust me, people on the street were definitely bewildered by this photo shoot. Also, how hilarious is this fast food mural we found (coincidence?! I think NOT!)

Happy Friday, Lovelies! Another weekend is upon us, and what better way to send you off than with a small army of colorful & delicate origami butterflies?!

This beautiful installation was done as a collaborative effort by Dream Interiors & Elixr for Singapore’s “Saturday in Design.” Each carefully crafted origami butterfly represents a dream in various stages, from the emergence of an idea, to the idea being in transit and then taking flight. Every butterfly has its own character and destination, but when flying together, new dreams are created and celebrated as a whole. How beautiful and inspirational is that!  It’s like a gentle call to action to follow our dreams.

Aside from being so inspirational & positive, the amazing colors of the butterflies create a perfect pop against Dream Interior’s stark white furniture collection. A perfect blend of modern design and colorful whimsy….
