Happy Friday, Lovelies! I’m so excited for this weekend…cooler temps and plenty of sunshine are forecast for the next few days, so I’ll be taking advantage by wearing my favorite sweaters and booties! Above is a Fall outfit I’m currently dreaming about. How amazing are those velvet wide-leg pants??! They’d be perfect for an afternoon city stroll & could be easily dressed up for a Saturday night with fancy heels, a leather jacket and a clutch.

Color Inspiration {Going Matte}

{On all fingers, except index fingers – Essie Bobbing For Baubles. On index fingers – OPI Barefoot in Barcelona. Matte top coat by Chanel.}

Sooo…this week I decided to go for something a little different and finally try the “Matte Nail” trend. I’ve been reluctant to try this matte finish, simply because I wasn’t sure I really liked the look. So here’s my verdict: I think it works with simple colors (like this nude/deep navy combo above). I also think it’s a nice change for Fall since it’s definitely a more serious and subdued look. What do you think? Yay or nay on the matte top coat??

Design Spotlight {The Vaguely}

Who loves hand-drawn, gilded & super bad-ass posters!? I DO!! In fact, I’m obsessed with Vanessa Hernandez’s luxe creations. Her design studio, The Vaguely, is based in Los Angeles, and Vanessa describes herself as a “design-geek & all-around-maker-of-stuff.” You go, Girl!

For a few extra buckaroos, she’ll even customize a beautiful vinyl poster for you (if you ask nicely, of course…)

Miss Renaissance Guacamole

I’m kind of a Guacamole addict…it’s the one thing I can pretty much eat all the time (along with Pizza…and Chocolate, of course!) I crave Avocados on a daily basis, and I often find myself whipping up a quick Guacamole at home when the mood strikes. Now, THIS Guacamole, my friends, is special though. I have to give my Mom credit for this one because she came up with it a few years ago – and it’s genius!! Pomegranate Season is upon us, and the addition of these sweet & tart little seeds of juicy (and Vitamin-packed) happiness is such an unexpected and delicious update to your regular-old Guacamole. Trust me! It may sound a little odd, but the combo is YUM!

All you need is your favorite Guacamole recipe, plus one ripe Pomegranate. De-seed the Pomegranate (Tip: cut the Pom in quarters and de-seed it in a big bowl of cold water. The water helps the seeds detach from the shell!) and add the seeds at the end. Voila! Deliciousness! As you can see, I added some basil to my Guacamole this time (I like to switch up my herbs), but adding traditional cilantro will taste just as good.

Happy Monday, Lovelies! Welcome to the first week of Fall. The temps here in Chicago have been beautifully crisp over the weekend…serious sweater weather is just around the corner now!! This outfit post comes to you from a shopping stroll through Soho during Fashion Week. I decided to go for a more casual outfit that day, with a denim-on-denim vibe & some fun Fall-inspired details thrown in.

{My love for blue-minty hues has no limits, so this rocker-chic studded leather vest is shooting to the top of my shopping list!}

Miss Renaissance Catherine Malandrino SS2013

Glam Sportswear is a perfect way to describe Catherine Malandrino’s Presentation at Fashion Week. The details, the fit, the stitching, the glamorous fabrics…everything was impeccable! I was truly blown away with this feminine, yet tough and opinionated range, it’s clear that Catherine’s girl is as Parisian chic as she is New York opinionated!

Her Spring 2013 line didn’t show a lot of crazy colors – mostly whites & blacks with the odd minty hue mixed in. The amazing details and intricate studding MORE than made up for the calm color palette though. These pieces feel so fresh and modern, they’ll be versatile and classic pieces for almost every occasion.

This concludes my Fashion Week Show/Presentation coverage for this year. It’s been such a blast to share my images and experiences with you. Thank you for reading, I’m already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

XO, and have a fabulous weekend!

Color Inspiration {Going for Classics}

Miss Renaissance Manicure

{On all fingers, except index fingers – Essie A List. On index fingers, Color Club – Take the Stage.}

For the second half of New York Fashion Week, I went with a classic combo of sexy, bright red & ritzy gold glitter! This combo proved to be a glamorous match to basically any Fall-inspired outfit. Essie’s “A-List” is the perfect shade of fiery red with subtle blue undertones, which makes it work with any skin tone.
