Miss Renaissance Cherry Almond Tart

Miss Renaissance Cherry Almond

Yes, yes….I know you’ve been dying to continue the Sour Cherry Saga, haven’t you?? Me too…me too. Today I present one of my favorite flavor combos in the WORLD: Cherries (specifically, of the SOUR variety, of course) & Almonds! Yum. This combo always gives me the warm and fuzzy Summer feeling. It’s refreshing and sweet at the same time and this Tart is an excellent way to savior this dream combo. If you haven’t baked with Almond Paste before, don’t worry, it’s basically just a fancy mix of finely ground Almonds and Sugar. It’s deeeelish even on its own (if you love Almonds the way I do.) I have included the Tart filling recipe above, and the crust recipe is the same I used in my recent Strawberry Tart – HERE. I really hope you try this one for yourselves – it’s easy, delicious and an absolute crowd pleaser at parties and dinners!

I literally have been on the hunt for the perfect leather skirt for MONTHS! And finally…..I found this baby! It’s the perfect length, not too sexy or too girly, the pleats are fun & versatile, and this skirt will take me from Summer right through Fall and Winter paired with some opaque tights. I had a fun rooftop party to attend last week, which was the perfect occasion to take my new treasure out for a test drive. I’m happy to report that the buttery leather didn’t wrinkle or warp while sitting, dancing & generally moving around throughout the night! This one is an investment pice worth every penny!!

Happy Friday, Lovelies! TGIF, right!? These beautiful Summer weekends make me reluctantly fear anticipate Fall. And when I think Fall, I think of a switch in color combinations. One of my absolute favorite “Autumnal” combos is Navy & Camel! It’s so classic and elegant, but also fresh and refined with the current saturated and bright navy pieces out there. This inspiration board started with these fun MIA platform shoes…I came across these babies a few weeks ago and was immediately drawn in. They recently arrived, and they’re not only unusual and on-trend, they’re also incredibly comfortable!! What’s your color take as the Summer Season slowly comes to its end?

Color Inspiration {Ombre Blues}

{Lightest Blue – Essie Borrowed & Blue, Medium Blue – OPI No Room for the Blues, Darkest Blue – Essie Mesmerize.}

Ombre, Blue…two of my absolute favorite things – all in one manicure! As you can clearly tell, I’m in love with this week’s color inspiration. This mani would look really nice while laying out by a pool this weekend, right? (Now I just have to find a pool!)

Design Spotlight {Knit Art}

Miss Renaissance Nana Van Blaaderen

{The Artist at work.}

I recently came across these designs by Dutch textile artist Nanna van Blaaderen. How amazing  are these wearable sculptures!? She creates many of her designs by hand, using sustainable materials. Animal life and nature are essential sources of inspiration and are recurring themes in her designs. I can’t wait to see more of her installations and creations in the future!

Miss Renaissance Cherry Pie

Miss Renaissance Cherry Galette

Miss Renaissance Recipe

As promised, we have officially moved on from Strawberries…..and right into Cherry Season! YAYY!!

On a recent trip to Northern Michigan, I had the immense pleasure of visiting a cherry orchard and picking my very own bucket full of Sour Cherries (My fave! They don’t grow here in Illinois), so as soon as I got back home I went to work in the kitchen! This Cherry Galette is basically a rustic version of a traditional Cherry Pie. I like it because it truly showcases the fruit and doesn’t take away from the cherry flavor by adding a top layer crust like a traditional pie might. The freeform shape is easy to create, and it’s a perfect item to bring to a Summer BBQ or Potluck! I served it as is, with iced coffee, but you could also dress it up with a scoop of ice cream as a great after-dinner dessert!

{Neoprene Dress – Threefloor Fashion (sold out, boo!), Heels – Alexander Wang (sold out, but check out these babies!), Earrings – J.Crew (in-store, but similar beauties online here), Bracelets – J.Crew & Cartier, Initial Ring – HSN, Heart Sunglasses – Urban Outfitters.}

Welcome to a brand spanking new week, Lovelies! Sorry this post is appearing a little later than usual….this weekend was packed with events and activities, so my Monday is off to a bit of a late start.

I’ve been dying to show you guys this Neon Dress forEVER! I’ve had it for a little while, but somehow didn’t manage to get pictures of it until now. It’s SUCH a fun dress! The neon is bright, flirty and punchy, the thick-ish neoprene fabric is drapey and doesn’t wrinkle (travel bonus!), and I know this baby will look good dressed up like I did in this post, as well as dressed down with flats and a fedora. It’s a bit short, so just to be on the safe side (wouldn’t want any wardrobe malfunctions to occur!) I wore a pair of laced biker shorts underneath (shorts from here). What’s your take on Summer neon?? Oh, and how about those amazing, bright earrings from J.Crew?! I’m in Love!
