Color Inspiration {Little Miss Sunshine}

Miss renaissance Color Inspiration Manicure

{On all fingers, except index fingers – Deborah Lippmann Yellow Brick Road, On index fingers – Butter London West End Wonderland.}

Ahhh…the weekend is here, Lovelies! What better way to bring on the sunshine for the next few days than a “Little Miss Sunshine” style manicure!? The fun & bright combo of yellow and gold glitter just screams fun in the sun. Throw on a white bikini with it and you’re ready to glow! Have a fantastic weekend and I’ll see you back here next week.

It’s Road Trip Time!

{Skirt – Club Monaco, T-Shirt – Club Monaco, Silk Scarf – J.Crew, Sunglasses – Rebecca Minkoff, Necklace – BaubleBar, White Bracelet – Danielle Stevens , Black Bracelet – BaubleBar, Gold Bracelet – J.Crew, Bag – Rebecca Minkoff, Sandals – ASOS, Polaroid Camera – Target.}

What are your plans for the Pre-4th-of-July Weekend?? A little BBQ? A little cocktailing al fresco? How about a Road Trip in a dream convertible?! Yeah, sounds amazing, doesn’t it…scarf-wrapped hair blowing in the warm breeze, nothing but open road in front of you. Sigh…above is a patriotically-inspired outfit I’d rock on such an adventure – it’s comfortable and breezy, yet fun and refined enough to work for wine tasting or an impromptu dinner stop.

It’s DIY Time!

{Pick up a basic mat and spray it with your desired base color – I chose a rosegold-metallic spray paint base.}

{Next, use sturdy painters’ tape to crate your shapes/design.}

Miss Renaissance DIY

{Here’s where the fun really starts….use your favorite colors to fill in your taped design! I used regular latex-based wall color for this, but spray paint would also work.}

Miss Renaissance DIY Doormat

{After a bit of drying time, gently remove the tape and VOILA! This baby is ready for use.}

{Isn’t she a cutie?!}

Here’s a simple & fun DIY project for your weekend or your next day off! You can keep it geometric and simple like I did, or you can get crazy with initials or an ombre pattern. Have fun!! I’d love to see what you come up with.

Miss Renaissance GEB Beignets

I’ve been a big fan of Graham Elliot’s restaurants for years! His original, namesake resto has been wowing food-lovers since 2008, and when he opened his casual “Grahamwich” sammy shop, my love truly deepened (you’ve GOT to try the grilled cheese sandwich – it’s amazing!) Last month, he opened yet another delicious food-mecca – Graham Elliot Bistro (G.E.B. for short) in the oh-so-foodie-centric West Loop. I finally got around to having lunch on the patio – located in a cozy courtyard in the back of the building. As usual, the decor was engaging and fun (check out the rocker-vinyl menus), and the food was beautiful and right on point with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The pictures tell all – it’s a MUST try (the chicken was one of the best lunch entrees I’ve ever had!) – I almost ordered another helping of the heavenly gianduja beignets…I’ve been dreaming about them ever since! I’ve heard that their brunch is fantastic…maybe I’ll see you there soon on a sunny weekend?

Happy Monday! Wow – how has this weekend flown by so darn fast!!? I’ve had a great week/weekend in California…exploring Wine Country & eating my way through San Francisco (I must have gained 5 pounds from all of the Ice Cream alone!)  The weather was sunny and beautiful – I couldn’t have asked for more.

The above pictures were taken by my fellow Blogger friend Alison back in Chicago. The outfit was (loosely, very loosely…) inspired by the nautical wall mural – can you tell that it’s a giant whale? The mix of fabrics and patterns feels fun for Summer and I couldn’t resist giving my new Vintage Chanel handbag a little camera time – what an amazing Birthday gift from my parents! The leather top is one of my favorite new pieces as well – it’s comfortable, the leather is super soft and supple, and it will look polished with white jeans on cooler Summer nights and skinny black pants in Winter.

Miss Renaissance Chocolate hazelnut Tart

{Today, after driving into San Francisco, my first stop was at Tartine Bakery. This INCREDIBLE chocolate & hazelnut tart was absolute heaven…perfectly deep, rich chocolate and crunchy roasted hazelnuts on top. Gimme, gimme!}

I hope you all have a fun and sunny weekend ahead of you! I’ll be spending the next few days exploring San Francisco (i.e. eating, eating, shopping, taking pictures, more eating, shopping….you get the idea!)

Strawberry Mania Continued {Strawberry-Chocolate Chip Ice Cream}

Miss Renaissance Strawberry Ice Cream

Miss Renaissance Ice Cream

Yes…the Freshly-Picked-Strawberry-Deliciousness-Saga hereby continues….with a SLAM DUNK! This Ice Cream is deadly – and I mean that in the most positively creamy-fresh and addicting way! I decided to add mini (semi-sweet) chocolate chips to this recipe for an extra added texture – and let’s be real, pretty much anything is even better with a little chocolate in it, right?! I followed this recipe and the texture and flavor was spot-on, not too sweet and just creamy enough to highlight the fresh strawberry flavor but not overpower the fruit. YUM!!
